The Society is open to any individual who has an interest in the “Mission Statement”. Admission is open to people of all ages, religions, races, colour, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, ability, or national origin.
Any behaviour that infringes or may infringe on the rights of any of the previous stated demographic groups or on basic human rights is not accepted, and members are expected to abide by a Code of Conduct.
Full Member
Any registered individual who has signed adherence to the Constitution, Rules/Regulations, and Code of Conduct as well as being a paid member (sharing in insurance). Full members have the right to vote in Society matters, but must recuse themselves from the vote where a conflict of interest is identified. $35.
Associate Member
Any registered individual who has signed adherence to the Constitution, Rules/Regulations, and Code of Conduct but has not paid Full Membership dues. Associate Members may participate in group activities not requiring group insurance after signing a waiver, but cannot participate in combat training or shows, nor vote in Society matters. $5.
Junior Member
Any registered individual under the age of majority (18 years) whose parent or guardian holds Full Membership status and has signed a waiver and paid the Junior member’s fee for insurance. Junior members can participate in all living history and educational activities but cannot be involved in any form of combat training until age 16, at which time they may, at the discretion of the group leader and with signed parental approval, be permitted to purchase group insurance to participate in combat training, but not in combat shows unless cleared for safety by their regular combat trainer. Junior members cannot vote in Society matters. $1.
The Vatnheim Vikings group has become like a second family to me. We meet often, share together, learn and hone our skills together, feast together and even live together in camp. I have become close to and learned so much from each and every member, and I wouldn’t trade this wonderful, enriching experience for any other.
